Note that "rest" is different than sleep or watching TV. Rest provides the body an opportunity to renew and heal, de-stressing the mind and body. Restorative yoga helps to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for bringing the body's response system back into equilibrium. Stimulating the PNS also helps to lower heart rate and blood pressure, assists in the promotion of a healthy immune system, and returns the endocrine system to a balanced condition. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(153, 51, 153);"&gt;***&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Yoga Fundamentals &amp;amp; Adaptations&lt;/span&gt;  is a workshop-based class recommended for inexperienced beginners in  yoga as well as for yoga students who want to deepen their understanding  of hatha yoga.  Learn the appropriate methods for your individual body  to practice yoga successfully, and enjoy the benefits of yoga without  fear of injury or judgment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All of my Yoga classes at phBalanced Fitness Studio are ongoing and open to anyone who wishes to attend. Classes last one hour. Bring a yoga mat or a large towel. Classes are $5.00. (Please bring exact change or check.) You may purchase a class card for up to 12 classes.&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What to expect in class. . . .&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The classes I teach are based upon my training in Integral Yoga®. The Integral Yoga® model was developed by &lt;a href="http://www.swamisatchidananda.org/"&gt;Sri Swami Satchidananda &lt;/a&gt;and consists of warm-ups, the Sun Salutation, backward bending poses, forward bending poses, inversions, twists, standing balance, deep relaxation, and breathing, and is appropriate for the beginner as well as for those who are familiar to yoga. My approach to teaching yoga logically sequences up the body from the feet to full standing and balancing in twelve distinct classes, bringing awareness to alignment by focusing on areas of the body for each class.  A participant may enter the sequence at any time.  Students deepen their understanding of seemingly insignificant parts of the body as they relate to gravity, standing, and balancing.  All of my classes include Yoga Nidra, deep, progressive relaxation of the body.
